You did a perfect job last night You shaved your legs and you washed your bike And you looked like an olympic cyclist to me And in the athens velodrome I listened to the crowd roar you home You were just a blur when you went passed me
After the trials, after it all You can see for miles And i can't see at all
I had a perfect afternoon The afternoon that i spent with you In brighton on the beach and in the sea And in your tiny council flat Relive the memories that take you back To athens and your rain-soaked sprint for gold
And i knew that you were the one And i still know it And i know that you are the only one With the strength and the sense to get me through it
After the trials, after it all You can see for miles And i can't see at all
You did a perfect job last night You shaved your legs and you washed your bike And you looked like an olympic cyclist to me And in your tiny council flat Relive the memories that take you back To athens and your rain-soaked sprint for gold
Ex-Concrete Blonde vocalist and bassist Johnette Napolitano waited two years after her former band broke up to form Pretty & Twisted with guitarist Marc Moreland and drummer Danny Montgomery. Less aggressive than Concrete Blonde but still rooted in the same tradition, the band's self-titled debut was released in 1995 on Warner Bros.
don't worry, honey and don't look back the past is past let it fade to black don't chew your teeth and twist up inside just ride, baby, ride
ride, baby, ride into the sun, into the sky ride, baby, ride ride, baby, ride
why don't you go down to mexico when the sun goes down listen to the seguaro when the sun is low ride, baby, ride into the sun and into the sky ride, baby, ride ride baby, ride
...hit me with your anger load your weight upon my shoulder I won't break 'cause I can take it 'cause I'm stronger and I'm older
ride, baby, ride into the sun and into the sky ride, baby, ride ride baby, ride

This song is about biking in traffic and getting the only kind of justice you can.
for everytime i hear them say
get the fuck out of the way
i will defend my right of way
that heap of steel i'm gonna slay
i'll thrash you i'll bash you
i'll kick in your doors
break out your windows
and scratch your paint
apologize for oil wars
apologize for polluting my air
in some cases cars are ok
but when i'm on the street
you're all my enemies

Gianni va veloce
veloce può rincorrere il vento
nel tempo che va
comunque sia la logica
corre tra monti e più in là
ritroverà il coraggio di andare
ancora più su
e arriverà in un attimo
parappaparapapappà
e arriverà in un attimo
parappaparapapappà
Gianni guarda il mattino
e prende il primo sole sul viso
che ride di già
è quasi primavera e i suoi sogni
Gianni parla poco
e vede il mondo come potrebbe
vederlo un marziano
e prende tutto quello che va
così perché va
perché la vita ha un senso
se il senso non glielo si dà
e tutto va in discesa
ZZ Top is an American rock band, sometimes referred to as "That Little Ol' Band from Texas". Their style, which is rooted in blues-based boogie rock has come to incorporate elements of arena southern, and boogie rock. The band, from Houston Texas, formed in 1969.
The song Sleeping Bag was released as a single in 1985 and became their most successful single, reaching #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, equaling the peak of their previous single "Legs."
A music video was made to promote the song. The video revolves around a couple being chased by two wheel loaders and the Bear Foot monster truck.
The video shows the destruction of the "Eliminator" vehicle featured in the videos of the album Eliminator and introduces the space shuttle on the cover of the Afterburner album.
The early scenes in the video inspired the video to the Foo Fighters' "Everlong".
Actors Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street) and John Dye ("Touched By An Angel") appear as the female and male leads.

e l'innocenza sulle gote tue
due arance ancor più rosse
e la cantina buia dove noi,
respiravamo piano
e le tue corse e l'eco dei tuoi no...oh no
oh mare nero...
tu eri chiaro e trasparente come me....
noi due distesi all'ombra
un fiore in bocca può servire sai
più allegro tutto sembra
e d'improvviso quel silenzio tra noi
e quel tuo sguardo strano
cos'è rimasto in fondo agli occhi tuoi
la fiamma è spenta o è accesa
Oh mare nero...
tu eri chiaro e trasparente come me...
ancora pieni d'amore...
The acronym N.E.R.D. stands for "No One Ever Really Dies," but childhood friends Chad Hugo, Pharrell Williams, and Shay most certainly used the group to proudly emphasize the nerdier aspects of their musical personalities. Before this side project took shape, Hugo and Williams -- as the Neptunes -- had established themselves as giants in the field of pop production, whether they were working with hardcore rappers, smooth crooners, or teen pop groups. Although their faces were known to many due to this prominence, N.E.R.D. allowed the duo to take center stage, as rock stars, even if a new alias was being used.
The trio recorded its first album, In Search Of..., and released it in Europe in late 2001.
“Provider” was the third and final single from the album. It managed to gain minor popularity in Europe, making the charts in the Netherlands and Sweden. In the UK, it was released as a double a-side with a re-release of "Lapdance," peaking at #20.
The video opens with two girls and a guy in a truck, the guy asking the two if they remember a guy named Shagg. Pharrell and Chad ride around with a bike gang interspersed with scenes of a young man (Brad Renfro) struggling to make ends meet and his pregnant girlfriend (Kelli Garner). She suggests he apply to the military, which he angrily rejects but reluctantly does. The video ends with Pharrell wearing cammo and holding a little girl displaying the peace sign with other children around him doing the same. Tony Hawk and Travis Barker make a cameo in a convenience store scene, while Pusha T of the Clipse appears as a drug dealer.
Woke up I had the same clothes on I had on last night
Damn
I must have passed out
And cash is just like the clothes I worn yesterday
We are broke
Damn
I gotta get my ass out
I went to see what my friend was talking about
Drugs
He told me cocaine would get you clout
My momma said he's trouble and schools my route
But I went to high school and got kicked out
So I'm driving this truck down the 95
I pray to God I make it home alive
I don't get pulled over by the man
I just want to make it home to hold your hand
Chorus
Goodbye beloved one
Do you know what I am
If you don't see my face no more
I'm a provider girl, gotta face the streets tonight
Goodbye beloved one
Do you know what I am
You don't see my face no more
I'm a rider, girl gotta face the streets tonight
You say you don't want me to go but I have to
Please don't weep
I love you
I refuse to be a bum
Especially coming where I'm from
I'm a provider girl
And I love you
So it's just like I said before
Heading down 95
Dodging Johnny law
I don't need a ticket though I never got one
If he pulls me over
He can feel my shotgun
I think about life pull down my hat
It's just like this road I don't know where I'm at
I don't want to be another cocaine story
Will I find my sanity
Where I find my glory
Come on
Repeat Chorus
Someday, Someday, this will be over
We'll raise a family
I'll get a job and I'll be a voter
And if I die
It will change you
Change you
I watch over a family
But only as an angel
So don't tell me you don't know what you see
When you're looking at a motherfucker just like me
I'm a provider girl
I said don't tell me you don't know what you see
When you're looking at a motherfucker just like me
I'm a rider girl
Repeat Chorus
I love you girl
I'm doing this for us
I don't know any better
What am I supposed to do
Nothing I love you

We walked arm in arm
But I didn't feel his touch
A desire I'd first tried to hide,
That tingling inside was gone
And when he asked me:
'do you still love me?'
I had to look away
I didn't want to tell him
That my heart grows colder with each day
When you love someone
But the thrill is gone
And your kisses at night
Are replaced with tears
And when your dreams are on
A train to train wreck town
Then I ask you now, what's a girl to do?
He said he'd take me away
That we'd work things out
And I didn't want to tell him
But it was then I had to say
Over the times we've shared
It's all blackened out
And my bat lightning heart
Wants to fly away
When you love someone
But the thrill is gone
And your kisses at night
Are replaced with tears
And when your dreams are on
A train to train wreck town
Then I ask you now, what's a girl to do?
What's a girl to do?
What's a girl to do?
What's a girl to do?
Great video from Bat For Lashes for the single 'Whats a Girl To Do'
Genuine acoustic songs with lyrics and harmonies that become part of your life.
Matthew Price describes his music as freewheeling folk rock. He combines vivid, authentic stories with rhythmic, contagious melodies to offer listeners songs that they will never forget. Imagine Jack Johnson meets John Prine. The album was produced by Rob Stroup of 8 Ball Studios in Portland, Oregon. Matthew and Rob brought in some of the finest musicians in the Northwest to participate on the album. Credits include Tony Furtado, Skip Von Kuske, Drew Shoals, and Arthur Parker, among others. The seven song EP that resulted is a breathtakingly beautiful and tasteful representation of the music. Instrumentation includes, upright bass, acoustic drums, piano, Hammond B3 organ, dobro, cello, pedal steel, acoustic and electric guitar, electric slide, and rich harmonies. There is no filler on this album; just seven of Matthew’s best songs, period.
Video: Matthew Price plays guitar and sings his original song, Freedom Machine, while riding his bike, live sound and all. Filmed by Dan Smith.
This song is by The Mixtures, though it's often mistakenly attributed to Mungo Jerry. That's understandable. The Mixtures first hit it big by covering Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime", and their follow-up, "The Pushbike Song", is reputed to be very Mungo Jerry-esque. Oddly enough, The Mixtures also have a song called "Henry Ford" on the same album as "The Pushbike Song". "The Pushbike Song" made the Top 10 in the U.K. and Australia in 1971, and the lyrics are charming.
Ridin' along on my pushbike, honey. When I noticed you. Ridin' downtown in a hurry, honey, Down South Avenue.
You looked so pretty as you were ridin' along. You looked so pretty as you were singing this song.
Well, I put on the speed, And I tried catching up, But you were pedaling harder too. Ridin' along like a hurricane, honey, Spinning out of view.
You looked so pretty as you were ridin' along. You looked so pretty as you were singing this song. Sing a song!
A-round, round, wheels goin' round round round. Down up pedals, down up down. But I gotta get across to the other side of town, Before the sun goes down. Hey, hey!
Now we're riding along on the bicycle, honey. That's a bicycle built for two. A-lookin' at my honey in the rearview mirror; Now I got a better view.
You looked so pretty as you were ridin' along. You looked so pretty as you were singing this song. Sing a song!
A-round, round, wheels goin' round round round. Down up pedals, down up down. But I gotta get across to the other side of town, Before the sun goes down. Hey, hey
Song: Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before
Album: Strangeways Here We Come (1971)
The Smiths “Stop Me if You Think You’ve Heard This One Before” – As a child of the 80s, I must confess I was a big Smiths fan. This video features the band and some pals parading around on bikes in Salford in some form of critical mass ride. Funnily enough some of the haircuts and bikes are now back in fashion in certain parts of East London.
Official promotional video for Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before.
The Smiths' song, written by the usual combination of Morrissey and Johnny Marr, came out on the group's 1987 album Strangeways, Here We Come.
The song was originally supposed to be released as a single and a music video was filmed, featuring scenes of the group-iconic Salford Lads Club and surrounding areas being bicycled through by the lads and friends. Because of a reference to "plan a mass murder" in one lyric it was banned from airplay by the BBC because of the then recent Hungerford massacre, so the band decided not to release it in the UK, however it was released in various other regions including North America, Europe, Australasia and Japan
Yves Montand (13 October 1921 - 9 November 1991) was an Italian-born French actor and singer.
Lay said, “At that time, it was Barouh’s idea or rather mine to make a recording with a singer! For this 45 single, Pierre one day entrusted me a text entitled “The Bicycle”. The words immediately inspired me. By visualizing these characters who pedal on country
lanes, I found the gimmick intro, a sentence in loop, like the movement of a bicycle’s chain. I recorded a sample where I interpreted the song myself. Pierre borrowed the cassette from me and carried with him on holiday to Saint-Paul-of-Vence. Over there he meets
Montand and makes him listen to this small sample. Immediately, Yves Montand says to him: “Okay, I’ll take it!” And here is how Montand discovered “The Bicycle” and made a success of it that myself as an interpreter, I would never have obtained!
--Philippe Margotin
Paroles: Pierre Barouh, Francis Lay
Raúl Alberto Antonio Gieco, better known as León Gieco (born on November 20, 1951 on a farm near Cañada Rosquín in northern Santa Fe, Argentina) is a pop-folk music composer and interpreter. He is known for mixing popular folkloric genres with Argentine rock, and for lyrics with social and political connotations. This has led to him being called "the Argentine Bob Dylan".
Leon Gieco, ever since his appearance in Argentina's Rock and Folk scene over thirty years, has managed to sing about the injustices he witnessed without compromising the beauty of his melodies. His passion for bringing together the sounds of popular music -whether it was American Rock or the zambas and chamames of his own country- and tell meaningful stories as well, has grown, sharpened its message and give his songs an unmistakable and powerful voice. "Por Favor, Adios, Gracias," his new album, is a gorgeous sum of what I'd call Gieco's "dance of beauty and social conscience," where both elements shine in their own right without deeming each other's light. To start us off, "Yo Soy Juan" offers a fierce Rock riff to the story of a young man who had found out that his real parents were political activists kidnapped and tortured at the time his mother was pregnant, and that he was given to a family once they were killed, something that happened in Argentina quite often during its "infamous decade" beginning in the mid-70's. With this song, Gieco confirms that playing great music does not need to compromise the power of songs to wake people up or have them ponder on the world we get to live in. The same is clear in "El Angel De La Bicicleta" about a young man who dedicated his life to feed people living in the poorest area of one of Argentina's provinces, and was shot to death by the police. Or, his tribute to the late Third World priest Father Mugica -"Los Guardianes De Mugica"- who was killed in one of Buenos Aires shantytowns in the 70's. The rest of the songs are just as beautiful -even those retelling tragedies are beautiful- and moving, listen to the melodies of "Ve A La Luna," "Solo Figuras," "Santa Tejerina," "Al Atardecer," or "Carneada," for further examples of Gieco's musical breadth. And if I don't mention any more is to attempt to keep an already long review from getting longer, rather than because the good tunes end there. These are politically charged songs that never surrender their artistic value, message or music count and deserve attention. Think of Gieco as a disciple of Dylan's who mastered an uncompromising poetic vision, stay current to the music of his times and denounced history's dark side, at the same time. Please, even if your Spanish is weak, give this album the opportunity to stun you with it power and tender call to remain open and sensitive to our beleaguered world.
Popular folk-rock composer León Gieco, well-known for his involvement in social causes, wrote a song dedicated to Lepratti, El ángel de la bicicleta ("The Angel of the Bicycle", alluding to Lepratti's main means of transportation). The video shows scenes of the December 2001 riots and the police repression, along with people writing graffiti about Lepratti. Such graffiti, most commonly the phrase Pocho vive ("Pocho lives"), the picture of an ant, or a winged silhouette (an angel) riding a bicycle, have sprung up in Rosario's walls, including the downtown.
The Wild Billy Childish saga continues apace - his latest musical ship is the mod/rock/pop combo The Buff Medways. Depending on whose point of view you listen to, we will call this the Buff’s fourth offering of hip-dom. It’s all got a little funkier on this new Damaged Goods release, ‘Medway Wheelers’.
Medway Wheelers is the fourth album from Wild Billy Childish & the Friends of the Buff Medways Fanciers Assoc., or The Buff Medways for short. The record includes the singles(I'm a) Lie Detector and Medway Wheelers.
The title track Medway Wheelers may be the standout track for the whole record. It is rare that we get to hear Billy sing instead of shout, and the subject of the song (his Mom and her bicycle club) is dear to him, so the track has a warmth that makes it connect like the best pop-psyche tracks it seems to be modelled on. Despite showing a softer side of Billy, the bridge in the track amps up the sound with an aggressive instrumental burst that supercharges the song.
Artist: Sonic Youth Song: Death Valley ‘69 Album: Bad Moon Rising (1994)
Sonic Youth began way back in 1980 in the downtown disaster unit of NYC. First three records (Sonic Youth, Confusion is Sex, Kill Yr Idols) began in 1981 on the Neutral label started by Glenn Branca. They then signed to Gerard Cosloy’s Homestead imprint releasing Bad Moon Rising and the Flower/Halloween 12” to universal intrigue and acclaim. They switched labels to release records (Sister, Evol) on SST, the Southern California label overseen by Greg Ginn of Black Flag, while Mr. Cosloy went on to join Matador Records with Chris Lombardi. Concurrently they established a relationship with Paul Smith and Blast First Records in the UK co-releasing the Homestead and SST titles and culminating with the massive end of the decade double LP Daydream Nation, since added to the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress.
Bad Moon Rising is an album of inspired contradictions. Chilling yet pastoral, artful yet politicized, it documents a band at odds with its own impulses and the culture that spawned them. You can hear Sonic Youth struggling to define their identity in a medium that turned its back on such pursuits long ago. The album closer, "Death Valley '69" (with vocal contributions from Lydia Lunch) is the group's most rewarding dalliance into straightforward rock to date and a promising sign of things to come. But the song is epilogue to a conflict between posture and innovation. Over the next three years--climaxing with 1988's Daydream Nation--Sonic Youth would pursue the latter of these impulses with peerless results. But Bad Moon Rising is arguably their first essential release. It marks a crucial turning point in the band's history--the moment when an experiment became an institution. --Matt Hanks
lyrics The video for "Death Valley '69" was filmed in 1985 and was the first music video by Sonic Youth, directed by Richard Kern. The video features the majority of the band in various states of bloody dismemberment interlaced with live footage of the band. The video is the only one to feature both the recently departed drummer Bob Bert, and then new member Steve Shelley. Sonic Youth never talk about bikes, but at 1:08 minutes of this video there’s a bike…
